Sufjan Stevens acaba de estrenar Sugar, nuevo adelanto de su octavo álbum de estudio, The Ascension. El tema llega con un videoclip dirigido por Ezra Hurwitz y coreografiado por Kyle Abraham. Filmado en Brooklyn, el video cuenta con bailarines reconocidos como Raymond Pinto, Samantha Figgans, Celeste Mason y Walter Russell III interpretando a una familia mientras el mundo a su alrededor se disuelve.
Sufjan Stevens ha comentado: “Sugar es sobre el deseo de bondad y pureza (y sustento verdadero). En la superficie, sólo es una serie de clichés, pero el mensaje es imperativo: ahora es el momento de reunir lo que es bueno y puro y valioso y hacerlo tuyo, y compartirlo con otros. Alimenta tu alma y dale vida nueva a los que están a tu alrededor. Dense amor, respeto y sacrificio. Renuncia a todos los viejos hábitos, todas las viejas formas de pensar y hacer, todas las prácticas anteriores – ‘lo mismo de siempre’—y trae una nueva vida al mundo. Este es nuestro llamado”.
The Ascension, el esperado sucesor de Carrie & Lowell se lanzará el 25 de septiembre a través de Asthmatic Kitty Records.
